I am writing you because I got an opportunity of a lifetime. Last week a woman called me by the name of Lauren Mochan. She is the PLD Coordinator of PSI Seminars. My name has trickled through the grape vine and she believes in my dream of becoming a motivational speaker. To give you an over view, PSI Seminar is a organization dedicated to changing the world one person at a time. I was introduced to PSI Seminar in August of 2005 when I attended The Basic. I was offered a job with them but at the time, I was only sixteen, so I am here at Bethany College pursuing my degrees in Psychology and Theatre with concentrations in Communication and Leadership. I hope to one day become a motivational speaker working for them and eventually have my own company. The opportunity that has been placed in front of me is traveling to a village in Ghana, Africa this May to build a church. As faith enriching and life altering this will be there is one set back that I have encountered. I have to fundraise $2,850. This covers my flight, food, a place to stay, my shots, the work visa and a portion of the building materials needed for the church. I am going with a small group of individuals to travel half way around the world to make a difference in the lives of people I have never met and potentially will never see again. It is quests such as these that I want to dedicate my life doing. I also counsel at Winner’s Camp, a motivational camp for teens in Oahu, Hawaii in July. My passion in life is to listen and essentially change one life at a time into making people realize that they can become anything.
I hope that you will be able help me with this fundraising. By contributing, you are fundraising with PSI World, a non-profit organization, making all donations tax deductible. All checks can be made out to PSI World or to me personally. I found out about the experience not even a week ago, but I have to have all the money raised by April 14, 2009. If you are able to contribute in any way, please send funds to:

Thank you so much, your support during this time would mean more than words can say. When I return I will be sure to send you all of the pictures and an update of the experience when I return sometime in June. I also will be giving a presentation at the Chapel at my college in September.
An 11 day community service trip to Ghana, Africa. We will be departing; Thursday May 28th and returning Sunday June 7th.
This all came about 5 months ago when Lauren was connected with a man named Christian from Ghana. After expressing her desire to take groups of volunteers to other countries for community service, a friend introduced them. Christian is an amazing man with an inspiring story of absolute perseverance. Christian became clear on his life purpose and began a Christian Church many years ago in Ghana. The Church grew quickly and continued to grow even after he and his wife came to the United States. Sadly, towards the end of last year the congregation was informed that they would no longer be able to meet in the school where the they had gathered for many years. After hearing the news, Christian began his mission once again. He and a small group of other concerned, aware people came together to raise enough money for the congregation to purchase a piece of land and to begin building a church. However, the funds raised where depleted before the church was fully constructed. They need our help!
It is our shared vision that has brought us together. Christian's dream is to create individual relationships between Africans and Americans so that we can share the strengths of our cultures with one another. We have created the "Bridging The Gap" cause with the purpose of helping others to truly understand that although we perceive differences in those who live across the world, ultimately, we are all simply beings of light. We are all the same no matter how separate we may appear to the inexperienced eye. Through travel, relationship, and service we are making the differences of the world smaller and the hearts of the world bigger!
